Creating a new website for a guild. Need help!?

I have recently decided to make a website for a clan, and i was wondering how I would go about this. I notice most other clans use phpBB, and one of the companies that hosts websites i have taken interest in, specifically SiteGround.com. The problem is it seems that you either have to make your own webpages, or use one of their templates (which doesnt relate to my guild). I used to use guildportal, but I didn't like it so much because of its really limiting when it comes to customization of the layout. Can anyone help me out on how I could get started? Maybe on what programs I could use to start creating webpages so I can upload them to the site (preferebly free), and any other helpful information that i may be overlooking right now. Thanks!

1. I recommend PageBreeze and Kompozer. Both are free and easy to use.
2. You've not defined the problem very well. phpBB is a forum/bulletin board system. I think you may be looking for a content management system. http://www.opensourcecms.com/ Most of them run on php with a MySQL database. Alternative something like GooglePages or Yahoo! Geocities may meet your needs.
