Where are the .tpl files located on PHPBB?

I am trying to put some adsense code into my phpbb. I know how to insert it and have found all the instructions but i just cant find any files ending in .tpl, all mine end in .html. I've looked in all the folders, including the template ones as i guess thats what .tpl is for, but i just cant find them :-( I have the latest version and i've found similarly named filed such as main_footer.htm but where is main_footer.tpl ?!?! I find all these guides saying "Find the following line of code" but i cant find it in the file i'm told to open. I am using phpbb but it seems like everyones talking about a different program! All i want is to put adsense ads in a forum :-(

1. They're in the admin section. I think it's in the appearance section. Just search the admin section. nm. i just re-read your question and you found what I was talking about. are you referring to the actual page that has the php code in it?
