How do I Change PHPBB Board to make it look like the rest of my website?

Please help! I just created a website using MS Publisher. I managed to add the phpbb message board and everything works. I would like the message board to look like the reste of my website. Is it possible to create a template in Publisher and change it php template format? I would be happy to give someone my website so they can look at it and give me ideas or even just let me know if it's even possible. Would be happy to pay someone to do it for me as an option. It's my first website and I would really like to make it work. Thanks!! Thank you for your response. This definitely makes it clearer. What program do I use to edit the .tpl files?

1. PhpBB uses a template system called smarty templates. You can find the template files in %phpbb_dir%/templates. The default template is in the directory "subSilver". You'll notice a ton of ".tpl" files in this directory, when you make your own PhpBB template you'll need all these files. I would recommend making a copy of the default template and start by making minor changes to it so you can get used to the template system. Once you're getting used to making basic changes take a look into http://www.phpbb.com/customise/ and also view the forums. These two resources are very helpful to get you started.
