What software should I use to make a signature to use in a forum?

I plan on making a Resident Evil themed signature, and just wondered what I should use and what I should know? Thanks in advance

Adobe Photoshop - trial availiable here: http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/index.html Adobe Fireworks http://www.adobe.com/products/fireworks/ GIMP - free, open source photoshop equivalent http://www.gimp.org/ and tutorials from the ones the member above posted. best bet is photoshop, its the best image editing program out there.
