How do you make a Forum Site more active and well known?

I've created a small community site. It's forum based. Thing is, it's quite lonely, mostly because there isn't any way for online users to find it and the users who have joined tend to forget about it and disappear... Anyway, if you were handling the site, how would you get these forums up and running? www.karibu.freeforums.org The forum doesn't really have a general theme, it's just an open discussion area with a text based roleplay, tutorials and web-picks for variety. Any ideas?

1. 1. Learn about and implement some search engine optimization techniques. Search the net for 'SEO' 2. Create a funny or cool flash presentation that people will email to their friends. Show your URL at the end of it. 3. Make a flier and post it at your local colleges and book stores. 4. Go onto Amazon and review products related to your site theme. List your URL in the reviews.
